These grips are the older type that do not come with a rigid core and a collar to fix them to the bar. Although I like that feature it wouldn't do for my old Klein mountain bike as I like my bar ends and I don't want to move the brake levers and shifters from where I've had them for 25 years. These are soft and flexible enough that I could install them without having to cut them down.

Installation was easy with just water no alcohol or dish soap needed. They fit very securely once in place. They supply enough cushion to blunt road shock without feeling squishy. These grips are a good choice for replacing worn-out grips on an old bike and they don't look out of place with the vintage components.;
