Specifications

Tight enough tread spacing for high speed, drag-free onslaughts yet blocky and tall enough to really dig in when it comes time to slam on the brakes. A rounded profile and staggered, supported side knobs keep clamoring for traction even as the trail loses its camber.

  • Commonly used as a rear tire with a WTB Vigilante on the front

I love these tires. Very strong sidewall and I never get punctures on rocks. Only downside is they are a little heavy .;

I've used WTB tires for years but this is the first time I've tried the Trail Boss. I got the 2.4 x 29". It installed just fine - not too difficult to get on like some other brands. I have it only on the rear on a hardtail single speed. Because its single speed on steep hills I can't just gear down keep my butt on the saddle and spin - I have to come out of the saddle so traction is really important. I ride in the desert southwest - from hardback to loose dirt/rocks. I am very happy with the traction on the steep loose stuff. It also rolls great on the fast flowing trails. It's not heavy and has descent sidewall protection. I'll definitely look for this tire again when I need a replacement.;

For the sake of openness I did replace some Kenda Honey Badgers so the original tire was meh at best. I am running the Trail Boss front and rear since I mostly ride trail and XC. I figured the Vigilante would be too much for the front so I am running 2.4 front and 2.25 rear great combo. These bad boys have massive amounts of grip! I gained so much confidence both at speed and in the corners.
Made this decision after tons of research on the Maxxis line and glad I chose these over the Ardent.;
