          My old workout/transition bag (the previous Zipp transition bag) was falling to pieces so I decided it was time for a new one.

          After extensive research I landed on the new Zipp transition bag because the dividers seemed like they would address a lot of issues I had with the previous bag (mainly keeping things organized) and the wetsuit and other compartments don't impinge into the main compartment (a problem with the shoe compartments on the previous Zipp bag and in one way or another on every other bag I researched).

          While the dividers help they're not perfect. The dividers that came with my bag are somewhat warped so they don't fit completely straight in the bag. They're also pretty flimsy and the velcro attachment isn't that strong so they don't always keep things in their place. Also I wear 12.5 EE shoes and putting both my run and bike shoes in the bag makes for a tight fit.

          So while this is a pretty good workout/transition bag overall it has some shortcomings.;

          My wife purchased this for me as a Christmas 2015 gift so I've had several months experience. It's big has all the things you'd expect from a tri bag including a shell case on the top for sunglasses a plastic lined compartment on the bottom for wet things like wetsuit and towels and deep mesh pockets on both sides.

          What makes it different it that instead of opening at the top (which requires fishing in the dark for things on the bottom) it lays on it's back and you unzip the entire front giving you access to the compartments that are only 6 inches deep. The compartmentalization and shallow depth makes for easier organization and finding.

          Now for the bad stuff. Right out of the package the assembly of the mouse fur covered plastic compartment dividers with their Velcro attachment system was a real pain to set up as the Velcro sticks to any mouse fur it touches as you try to arrange it the way you want it. The dividers are also not cut properly so they stick out the sides making the zip up process tricky. But the real design flaw which tells me the folks at Zipp never actually used this bag in real life is that in order unzip the bag to access your stuff you have to unhook the 2 bayonet fasteners that hold your helmet in the mesh bag on the front of the bag which means that as soon as you unhook those unzip and open the bag your helmet falls out of its' mesh bag. This happens whether the bag is standing up or lying on its' back.

          All they needed to do was to make the attachment points for the helmet bag clips 1" away ... put them on the front flap instead of on the main bag so when you open the flap your helmet stays put. This is so annoying that I am taking the bag to a seamstress to have them move the clips to where they should be. Then it will be a good gear bag.;
