I go through backpacks constantly and consider myself a bit of a backpack connoiseur. I also live on and travel on my sailboat so I really need the things I own to be well made or they don't last very long in this very salty environment. This backpack is an Osprey so you know it's quality. I've had several Osprey packs before and this is my favorite. It was important for me to have water bottle pockets on the side to have some semblance of water resistance and to have the zippers have some sort of coverage (mostly) and for it to be lightweight and comfortable while I'm out exploring. This bag covers it all. It's really comfortable! I've worn it for the full day with waterbladder food extra later etc and it felt great. I usually don't care for the waist pockets but these are actually really great. My phone doesn't fit unfortunately but I do have a really large phone (OnePlus 8). It does however fit my sunglasses perfectly. I usually keep my sunglasses cloth for cleaning vitamin packs wallet and a few other small items in both sides. This bag is good in a light rain. I always carry a small dry bag and a rain cover in it just in case though. I've been looking for a loooooong time for a backpack that would hit most of my checkpoints and still be not too big and not too small. I'm 5'3" and 115lbs. This bag fits like a glove and my boyfriend who is 6'2" can also carry it and be comfortable. I haven't really found any use for the pocket in the strap but I'm sure it could be handy one day and I'm happy to have it. It compresses really well and I like all the little things they thought of even though I don't use all of them. I enjoy the use of the outer expandable portion and it's come in handy for when my bag is already full and I just have a little more to add. A bonus for me is that I was able to sew patches on it without sewing through the actual inside of the bag because of the flaps and overhangs. I made a few adjustments like sewing on some elastic sleeves to keep the excess straps contained and neat. I altered the elastic cords inside the bag to hold my dry bag inside for rain protection and a bit more organization in the bag. I clipped in a mesh bag in the outer pocket to store the rain cover. Overall I absolutely love this bag. I do feel like for the price they could've included a rain cover and/or water bladder.

I love it. I hike and I’m tiny and the size and length of the back is perfect for me. Super comfortable and well thought as usual for the brand.;
