Always used Lizard Skin bar tape for their comfort and longevity. It absorbs bumps pretty well and very sticky even when wet. I also use Supacaz .;

Used Lizard over Specialized Gel pieces and it worked great, you can really put a lot a tension on Lizard Skins without stretching it so the Gel packs stay in place. The feel is great with riding gloves, gel and Lizard I've eliminated my hand fatigue problem;
