I've never owned nor ever tried to inflate folded tubeless tires. I taped my rim using "High Temp Tape ELEGOO 4 Pack Polyimide High Temperature Resistant Tape Multi-Sized Value Bundle 1/8’’ 1/4’’ 1/2’’ 1’’ with Silicone Adhesive for Masking Soldering etc" tape. I used this tape because I read about it on a bicycle chat room. It is very light and strong and much more economical than regular rim tape. I then did one finishing wrap of electrical tape around my rim for added strength. But for the life of me I could not get my tire to properly seat and inflate at all using no tube. I ended up putting tubes in my tire however I still could not get my tires to seat properly and when I reinstalled on my bike by tires were going up and down (radial bump). So I finally did what people said many times in video to do...I took some liquid hand soap put it in a dish added a little bit of water and mixed it up. Instead of using a spray bottle I just dipped my finger in the soap and wiped it onto the bead of my tire and on my rim. After doing this (and still using a tube) for the first time ever I heard the popping sound of my tire finally fully being seated. At one point I had my tire on in the reverse direction so I had to take it off all the way and reinstall in the right direction. But this allowed me to remove a slight bit amount of water that was inside my rim and tire and I did not need to reapply any more soap. Again I was able to hear the popping sound for both sides of the tire that you so often hear in people's videos. I will at some point try again to install without any tube. I will update again then. As for the tires riding they seem good to me. My previous road tires had no traction at all so these will be good when I go off road this next vacation.;
