Happy with the tread - it's exactly what I wanted for my gravel bike ridden on mixed surfaces - but it's not really tubeless-compatible. When installed as a tubeless tire with Peaty's sealant and Muc-Off tubeless valves, it would hold enough pressure for a short ride, but then go rim-on-floor flat overnight. When hunting for a leak I found that air was seeping directly through the tan sidewall - I could watch each little patch of foam grow as air leaked out (the bubbles are not coming from the valve, any spoke nipple, or anywhere along the bead - only directly through the tan sidewall). I doubled the amount of sealant and allowed the tire to rest on each side overnight in the hopes that it would seal the sidewall, but it still leaks, and on closer monitoring I discovered it will lose 10 lbs of pressure in a 1-hr ride. I'd like to think this is a fluke - a one-off problem with this particular tire - but I had the same problem with the first Byway I bought at my local shop (I just really wanted matching tires front and back).

tl;dr Good tread pattern for mixed-surface riding but don't expect it to actually be tubeless. WTF, WTB?;

Great all around tire. Rolls very well. Does not seal with Stan's. Buy yourself a bottle or Orange Seal.;

I got the 700x40 and was interested in how good these would handle on the gravel trail I normally ride on. well on my first ride after 10 miles I got a flat. There was a small piece of gravel that punctured the very center of the tire. Might just stick to riding on paved roads.;

These tires just weren’t for me. I liked them for the road as that is what they are really intended to be ridden on. What I did not like is how thin the casing was. I’ve never had a tire “sweat” sealant through the sidewalls but they did this pretty consistently. If you are a 100% a road warrior I think these would be a great fit as they are very fast rolling.;

Using this as my winter tire. Very satisfied at how it is off-road compared to my road tires and very happy with how smooth it feels on the road.;
