It does what it's supposed to do which is tighten nipples to a certain point. So it will be ready to true the rim. If you tighten all the nipples before truing you will be going back and loosening them so the tention can be adjusted evenly. That's why it has that little point in the middle so you don't over tighten the nipples before you true the rim.;

I find that the easiest way for me to re-align a wheel is to loosen all of the nipples gradually until every spoke is slack and then use this tool to bring them all back to the same length and go from there gradually with a spoke wench.

The little tit on the tool not only centers it but lets you tighten the nipple to the same level on every spoke quickly.

I'm buying a second tool because nothing is more annoying than dropping the damned thing and having it roll under the workbench when you're in the middle of a job. I have extra spoke wrenches handy for the same reason. Those little buggers always get away from me.;

I have many bike tools. Those from Park are reliable and functionally superior. This is a great tool. Just buy it and get those wheels built and get back on the road.;

I found this nipple driver a useful tool when building my wheels although it is not absolutely necessary -- more like a convenience.;
