The Assegai tire is designed primarily for downhill racing and aggressive trail riding in mixed conditions. The knob height falls between the Minion DHR II and the Shorty. Like the Minion tires, the center knobs are heavily ramped on the leading edge to reduce rolling resistance. A small knob located between the center tread and side knobs provides a smooth transition while cornering. When combined with Maxxis' 3C MaxxGrip rubber compound, the Assegai offers predictable traction, even over slippery roots and rocks.

This is my 2nd pair. I run them front and rear despite what others say about them slowing you down when in rear. People that say that don't even run them at all. When I switched a ran 2-3 mph faster and at top speed. Doing 24mph through the woods is pretty scary but these tires stick like glue. I highly recommend them either way you want to run them. My new set up is 2.6 front and 2.5 rear. Greg Minnaar designed and runs these tires. He's been wining for 29 years. He's no slouch

In the description the tire model is not mentioned so this is the Maxxis Assegai 29x2.6 intalled in my Trek Rail eMTB and works perfect I ordered and was delivered to Mexico although it was stopped in customs DHL took care of everything and the tire arrived in lees than a week. Top notch this tire however it rolls slower in asphalt but excels in the mountain.
