From the Dissector, Troy Brosnan wanted to create a unicorn tire a center tread design that carried speed easily but with edge blocks worthy of world-class cornering speed. The Dissector center knobs are all heavily ramped to minimize drag, but retain sharp, flat edges along their backs to provide strong braking traction. Small sipes give the knobs additional flexion, increasing their surface area during braking and aiding the transition to the edge blocks when cornering. A distinct channel along either side of the center knobs along with ample spacing between all lugs helps to clear debris.

  • Recommended as a rear tire
  • Wide Trail (WT) casing is optimized for 30-35mm inner rim widths

I usually go DHRII in the back but thought I would give this tire a try. It is really nice, I put it rolls as nice as a ardent but corners like a DHR. nice job maxxis!;

Great tire! Replaced MAXXIS Ardents with Dissector rear and DHF for front, now I’m able to climb some steep loose gravely hills that I’d slip out on before, much more confident on the downhill single tracks and through rock gardens. Easy to install/seal and seems fairly quick. I’m glad MAXXIS came out with these, my go-to rear tire.;

Good tire! Low rolling resistance for a tire with a good center thread, which allows for good braking.;

Switched from a Maxxis Rekon to the dissector as my rear tire. Perfect for the Boise foothills which is mostly loose over hard pack.;

Awesome rear tire for trail/enduro use, but you already knew that. More breaking traction than the Aggressor and it feels like it rolls and accelerates a little better too. I also liked running the Dissector yup front on my enduro rig to practice cornering. Whereas the DHF and Assegai have all that grip you want up front, they can sometimes make you lazy on cornering due to how much grip they have (especially the Assegai). Running the Dissector up front forces you to hone your cornering skills. It's not an XC tire at all---the side knobs are still plenty chunky---but it's much lighter than DHF. It rolls similar to a Bontrager XR4, but with significantly more braking traction and cornering bite.;
