Mounted the Rambler 700 x 45c 60 ply on the front of my Specialized Sirrus X 4.0. At installation, the 45c Rambler measured 42.1mm wide on my 21mm rims, but it expanded to 44.6 mm after a few rides. I run it with a tube, and it installed easily without tire levers. The round profile helped my bike drop into corners smoothly, and the tire transitions into lean angles much better than the less predictable smooth-centered Pathfinder. However, the limited shoulder knobs give it less traction in corners than the WTB Riddler, so I moved the Rambler to the rear of my bike since it rolls a little faster than the Riddler that I now run up front. The Rambler's profile and rubber compound provide excellent cornering grip on asphalt and concrete paths. It rolls almost as fast as the Specialized Pathfinder, and grips pavement better than both the Pathfinder and the Riddler. The Rambler's short knobs add a nice layer of cushioning while staying virtually silent on asphalt and concrete. Even at max pressure for road rides the Rambler virtually eliminates small jolts to the rider from cracks and expansion joints.
The Rambler's tread pattern and rubber make it surprisingly fast rolling.
Overall, the Rambler makes an excellent front or rear for gravel and light trails in dry conditions. The handling is pretty vague in mud, and it's not the best front for railing single track. But when I put it on the rear of my bike with a 45c Riddler up front I PR'd almost every segment on my favorite Strava route. I've earned 3 KOMs on concrete path and gravel segments, and I'm currently #2 of 3,900 riders on a fast and twisty downhill dirt sprint at -4% grade. It hooks up well on climbs and drifts predictably in corners. Great tire.;

I bought these for the extra volume of the 45c tire. These are not true to size so i am disappointed. should have stuck with the panaracer graveling 43c which are a bigger tire.
These measured 41/42mm while my panaracers measured 44mm on same wheels.
Typical of almost all of the Maxxis tires. They run smaller than most.
I think I am done with Maxxis. If you want a 2.4 mtb tire you had better buy a 2.6;

Got this as I mostly run street with shortcuts through grass and vacant lots. This tire has what they call "Silk Shield" a laminate going across the whole of the tire that makes punctures hard to get. We have a real bad sandspur problem here in Florida. The little things are just enough to make a regular tire leak like all the time. Besides "Silk Shield" I have gone tubeless with Orange Seal and no more leaks due to one or the other reasons. Reagardless of flats, the tires feel way better than the OEM on Diamondback Trace. I can feel corners are much deeper now. They seem thinner than 45's somehow which is good for what I want, which is easy rolling. Satisfied till later!;
