This is the second set of Panaracer tires I bought for my old mountain bike. The first set was the Panaracer Tour without the enhanced flat protection. Those tires were good for about a year of moderate riding until half the tread wore off and they allowed road debris to puncture the inner tubes. They were also much heavier and had greater rolling resistance than the Kenda tires I had previously installed on the bike. These new Panaracer tires are even heavier and have greater rolling resistance than the old set. I have to pedal harder even on level roads and my speed is slower.;

These tires are comparable to the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires. Both have a 5 mm flat protection layer. The Panaracer is definitely more affordable and a lot easier to mount. I'm 71 yrs old. Since I don't have the hand strength of a young buck for me these tires were some what difficult to mount. After mounting the first tire with much difficulty. I decided to mount the second tire differently. I started at the valve stem and worked the bead around to opposite the valve stem this made mounting much easier. I also used the Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack both times and this really helped with my lack of hand strength. I will add to this review once I have had a chance to ride on these tires. For now I just wanted to comment on the value and the ease of mounting. I will be using these tires on both road and cinder trails for daily workouts on my bike.;
