I managed to lose one of the barrel adjusters used with my Avid Speed Dial 1.9L brake levers. These levers were released in 1998. I fully expected these replacement adjusters to be the wrong size. To my delight Avid has been using the same size barrel adjusters for its Speed Dial levers since the 90s. Wonderful.;

My bicycle came with plastic barrel adjusters. Even when I bought new brake levers (a quality name brand) they still came with plastic barrel adjusters.

I like these because they are metal alloy and stronger than plastic so the likelihood of stripped threads is reduced. They can be lubricated with quality grease to insure than any brake adjustment (even when in the middle of riding) is smooth effortless and stable.

I recommend these 100% over plastic barrel adjusters. They are better for your bike.;

These actually did not fit on my brake levers -- but that's what you get for buying a cheap bike eh? Cheap brake levers! The diameter of these was too big so I acutally bought some Avid brake levers as well and these fit wonderfully. The feel of the new ones is night and day. Highly recommended.

P.S. do not buy cheap ripoff brake levers. The barrel adjuster on mine literally collapsed in on itself and I lost (luckily) rear brake. Scary situation. Go with a reputable brand like Avid.;
