When I purchased my Marin San Quentin 1 mountain bike I was so I’m with it that I overlooked one very significant shortfall in the spec. That is; the SQ1 is equipped with the weird 141mm Boost QR rear axle. A wart on an otherwise perfect bike. I have never been impressed with standard cam lock QR skewers and I searched high and low for a solution.

I came across a post in a forum that stated that the DT Swiss Tandem RWS skewer would work on this application. I installed it in less than a minute and felt the significant difference in clamping force. It may not be a thru axle but for the kind of moderate trail riding I do it will suffice.

Love DT Swiss products. My next purchase will be a DT Swiss 350 148mm rear hub with the 141 QR axle conversion kit and a 54t ratchet upgrade.;

Perfect for 12 speed cassette upgrade. Had an 8 speed then uograded to 10 speed cassette then what i had was only 135mm. When i upgraded to 12 speed the 135mm was not long enough. Had to look for a longer skewer then I came across this and tried my luck. Good thing i did coz its perfect! Just the way I want it to be.;
