          Perfect fit for my city winter commuter. 50/32 isn’t practical for stop-and go city riding. This makes transitions between stoplights more efficient. Shift once in the front after takeoff put in a few pumps of power coast to the next light and shift back down. ALL commuters should come with 46/32.;

          Four teeth isn't much but it will allow me to stay in the big chainring longer going into a climb also the neglected small cogs on the cassette will finally get some work. Replaced the big ring on my Felt but left the 34t alone. No problems with alignment or installation. Heads up though you will have to break your chain and pull your crank. After reassembly you will also have to lower and adjust your front derailleur as well as shorten your chain.;

          When you order I would advise using the comment section to let the seller know what kind of bolt pattern you have. I needed the 5 bolt pattern shown in the picture but the first ring they sent was a four bolt pattern for a high end Shimano or Sram crankset. The picture and the description are somewhat in conflict on this but they do appear to stock both types.

          That said this is a very nice stylish looking chainring and a good replacement for the stock 50 tooth ring that comes on most bikes these days. It has all the necessary ramps and pins so it shifts perfectly. I used this FSA 46T ring on an 11 speed setup with a Specialized carbon crank and a UDi2 front derailleur (frame mount) but there is no reason it would not work fine with any front derailleur. You will need to drop the derailleur for best shifting (Shimano specifies a 1-3 mm clearance from the top of the big ring to the bottom of the front derailleur cage) but that's a trivial thing to adjust with most frame or collar mount derailleurs.

          The reason for the change is that the stock compact double 50/11 top gear is wasted on me as it is on most riders. A 46 tooth top ring still provides a big top gear but it allows the rider to stay in the big ring just a bit longer before having to shift to the smaller 34 tooth ring. As well using the 46T big ring allowed me to take 4 pins (2 complete links) out of my chain which is a big deal since I'm running an 11/40 rear cassette with a K-Edge conversion on my UDi2 rear derailleur. Shortening my chain helps keep the rear cage under better tension when I'm in the smaller 34T ring so I can use the full 11/40 cassette.;

          Good ring to replace the 50T that came with the FSA Vero crankset. My wife prefers the smaller ring combination with her 11-32 cassette.;
