They rub against the wheel rim and stop it from turning. What else can I say? No issues whatsoever. Easy to install at a pitch to prevent squealing.;

These are good all rounder brake pads. They will wear out a little quicker but that’s ok..you’ll keep your aluminum rim longer and stop better than your dried up old brake pads that have turned stale cookie hard.
Make sure you set these up correctly and adjust your toe in for maximum stopping efficiency so you don’t complain on here how they are only worth a one star because they didn’t work or made weird noises.
Great brake pad the money!;

Makes my old cantilever brake bike feel like it can actually stop! Installation is a bit fiddly. I finally quit trying to install per the instructions and instead tried to make the pads parallel to the rim brake contact area. No squeal so far and very good braking power.

UPDATE: Kool Stops saves life of lizard! It's true a lizard darted in front of me on the bike path. I could only get to my rear brake and locked the wheel up for about 6 feet on clean dry asphalt. The lizard was probably impressed.;

These brake pads actually made the cantilever brakes work like brakes. Most of the time people think of cantilever brakes as ‘slowers’.;

Clean the rim. Not just with alcohol and a rag. Your rim should be polished back to CLEAN before you install new pads. The pads themselves are Grippy! I'll let you know how long they last. Most importantly they GRIP! You don't have to sand them like some people do. The material on the outside is the same all the way through it so why use sandpaper and introduce little tiny granules of rock into the pad? That's beyond me. Dope pads! They even come in a few colors. More surface contact = more braking power!;
